As an initiative of Study Gold Coast, the Kickstart Graduate Program is designed specifically to develop graduates’ practical workplace skills and build their effectiveness as an employee.
The program consists of 12 sessions over a period of 6 months with a variety of interactive workshops, guest speakers, mentoring, coaching and networking opportunities.
This year, I have had the privilege to participate in the Kickstart Program alongside a number of graduates across the Gold Coast.
We are currently at the halfway mark of the program and I can already see and feel the advantages this has had on my workplace performance and productivity. So far, I have learnt many valuable skills throughout the program including;
- Project management skills
- Giving and receiving feedback
- Setting priorities and time management
- How to work effectively as a team
The skills I have developed continue to assist in my everyday work life and I have found the greatest benefits by implementing a few tips into my day to day tasks. These include;
- Setting aside time for important priorities
- Limiting distractions
- Asking for feedback
- Working on complex tasks when my energy levels are high
- Taking small breaks to re-focus when needed
Overall, I believe the Kickstart Program has significantly impacted my professional development and skills as both a graduate and employee and will continue to help me in my future career.
I look forward to participating in the remaining sessions and further developing my skills throughout the program. I would also encourage other graduates to participate in the program next year as the lessons and skills you receive are so beneficial both inside and outside the workplace.
